We pride ourselves on maintaining an incredibly collaborative culture between both faculty and students and among the students themselves. We all cheer one another one and support each other at every turn. IOPSA coordinates student/faculty picnics, holiday parties, and alumni happy hours. Faculty members also host student gatherings. Some of the most highly anticipated of these events include Dr. Zaccaro's annual pasta tasting party and Dr. Cortina's end of year celebration for graduate students. The PhD student offices are a mix of students from different labs and at different phases in the program, fostering an informal mentoring environment between junior and senior graduate students. There is also a formal mentoring program for both Master's and PhD students where newer students are mentored by more senior ones. In addition, we also have an alumni mentoring program where students are matched with an alumni mentor in their field of interest.
